And why not? After all, it is always best to know the details before you start working on anything or before you start consuming anything.

What are Pores?

Pores are minute openings that are present throughout the surface of your skin. These pores are responsible to release sweat and oil from your body. There are 2 types of pores, Sweat pores, and Oil pores.

1. SWEAT PORES:

Sweat Pores are present on your entire body on your entire skin, including your scalp, palms, and feet. These types of pores are very minute and usually cannot be seen through naked eyes. As the name says these pores are responsible for releasing sweat from your body and are connected to your sweat glands.

2. OIL PORES:

These types of pores are usually connected to the oil-producing glands present on your skin except for your skin on palms and skin on feet. It is the oil pores that always appear large on the skin and gets clogged easily by Sebum, dust, and other external elements. People complaining about large pores and other pore issues are usually referring to the oil pores.

Today we will be focusing on Oil pores only, as they are the ones that make us worry all the time.

What Makes The Pores Look Large

There are many reasons as to why the pores appear large.

  1. The Pores start to appear large as you age. That is, as a person grows older their skin tends to lose its elasticity which causes the skin to stretch and sag making the pores look larger.
  2. If you ever see your pores suddenly looking large then know that it is because of the sebum accumulation in your pores. When the sebaceous glands produce excess sebum than required they tend to fit themself inside the pores as much as they can before they overflow and make your skin look oily. This usually happens on the nose, cheeks, and scalp.
  3. One more major reason, why your pores appear large is Sun Damage. Long term sun exposure without any sun protection (Sunscreen) will make your skin lose its moisture, collagen, and elasticity, resulting in dry skin. Moisture less dry skin will make your skin stretch and will also make your pores look large.

The size of your pores depends on your genes and there is no permanent solution to get rid of your pores. In fact, it is not advisable to even take medical procedures to get rid of these pores as they are very important and play a fair role in having glowing skin. Although you cannot get rid of your pores, Pore minimizing can be your solution. You surely can do things to make your pores appear small.

There are a few pore minimizing steps that every skincare enthusiast should follow consistently to help your skin have small pores, unclogged pores, and make your skin look like glass.

  2. Exfoliate your skin regularly.

  4. Apply sunscreen every 3 hours.
  5. Use AHA, BHA, Retinol, and Vitamin C products in your skin care routine.
  6. Religiously follow CTM (Cleanser, toner, Moisturizer).
